About University of Southern Maine

The University of Southern Maine, also known as simply USM, is a multi-campus public urban comprehensive university and part of the University of Maine System. In addition to the campus in Portland, in also has campuses in Gorham and Lewiston. It was originally founded as 2 separate universities, University of Maine at Portland and Gorham Normal School, which were merged in 1970.
